...a more youthful crop

THE EDITOR, Sir:
WITH THE grand Golden Jubilee of the Jamaica Labour Party's Conference now a part of the annals of the Jamaican landscape it was indeed fitting, as if with military precision, to note the changing of the guards to a more youthful crop of leaders to senior positions within the Party.
The shared victory celebrated by MPs Robertson and Dr. Horace Chang can be likened unto another JLP youth trailblazer, Wilmot Max Ramsay who at 18, in 1981, captured the Cambridge Division seat on the St. James Parish Council. (This seat was never before won by the JLP.)
In any event the youths will have to take over the reins of leadership so they should be given practical exercises in governance. Nationally, the JLP is now in opposition and just like the two Seaga terms of the 1980's and those that preceded them, a JLP dawn awaits.
