Jamaica Gleaner Letters
published: Wednesday | November 19, 2003

We have to do it ourselves
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AGREE with those who say that we are suffering from a crisis of leadership in Jamaica, but I would further agree with those who say that we also suffer from a crisis of 'followership'.

The JLP's self-destruct mission
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS very sad, not only for the members of the JLP, but for every Jamaican of whatever party persuasion...

Earning a way out of debt
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE PRIME Minister of Jamaica recently commented on the number of shopping malls being built and suggested that this will only deepen the current economic hardship facing us, and that what we needed was to produce.

A better place for Parliament
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE OLIVER Clarke-chaired Parliamentary Salaries Review Committee has recommended the construction of a new Parliament building.

Wise decision, Mr Shaw
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WISH to congratulate Mr. Audley Shaw on the wise decision he made in removing himself from the race for Chairman of the JLP.

The Carib Cement issue
THE EDITOR, Sir: I FIND it quite interesting by the recent happenings in the cement industry. I have been listening keenly to the radio to hear the public's reaction on the suggested 50 per cent duty on imported cement.

Prayer can't help us
THE EDITOR, Sir: LET ME express my view on a topic which was published in The Gleaner on October 20: wake up, church!...

Trevor Smith
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM looking for Trevor Smith who went to school in New York in the early 60s then later migrated to Chicago.
