Correct the mistake quickly

THE EDITOR, Sir:
IT SEEMS to me that the tourism officials in Jamaica and the Portland Chamber of Commerce, with other responsible officials, have surely spoilt the image of Port Antonio due to the lack of proper infrastructure at the port and close-by areas, which should have been in place before promoting the cruise ship port. The situation was outlined in your news, 'Cruise passengers displeased with shopping facilities' by passengers on the Radisson Seven Seas Navigator who arrived at the port on November 11 with 288 passengers. This displeasure should never have occurred.
Will those people who are responsible correct the poor showing so that all future cruise vessels wishing to make Port Antonio a scheduled call on their itinerary will find all necessary facilities, port and otherwise, to be available to the satisfaction of cruise ship operators and their passengers? No further advertising of the port should take place before this is done. We look forward to seeing improvement in all the areas noted without delay. The Port Antonio area is too good to not have proper management for this vital industry.
