Cop shot and injured

ANOTHER POLICEMAN was shot and injured by gunmen on Wednesday, the second since Monday.

According to police records, at least 10 members of the police force have been shot and injured since the start of the year.

The latest shooting took place in the rural district of Banbury, Hanover. Reports are that Police Constable Everton Lawrence, who is attached to the Sandy Bay Police Station in the parish, had gone to visit friends at a house in the district when he was attacked by a lone gunman.He is hospitalised in stable condition.

On Monday gunmen shot and injured a special constable in the Glendevon community of St. James. Police reports said the lawman and a group of men were playing a game of dominoes on the Glendevon Road, when gunshots were heard and a group of men were seen running away in a nearby gully. The matter is now being probed by the Lucea police in Hanover.
