Expressing our gratitude
published: Monday | January 26, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE MEMBERS of the Bala-clava/Oxford Area Group of the Jamaica Red Cross Society wish to extend their gratitude to the folks who contributed to the annual Christmas party for the golden agers and the shut-ins from the areas of Roses Valley, Autchem-beddie, Oxford and Comfort Hall. The party was held on December 30, 2003 at the Oxford Comm-unity Centre, Manchester.

Among those who contributed were the Bank of Nova Scotia, Mandeville branch, RBTT with the assistance of Mr. Edwards, financial manager, Councillor Maxwell, Josephine Isaacs, Mr. G. Morris, Mrs. Simons, Mr. and Mrs. Chang from Mile Gully, Mrs. Robinson, Phyllis Waite and others.

With their help we were able to feed 120 golden agers and children.

Hot meals were served with cold drinks, ice cream and cakes. Packages of food items, sheets for beds, fabric and clothing were given out. The shut-ins had their goodies sent to them by Roy Seal and Pastor Wilbert Banton with Silva Box.

Special thanks to Ruby Tomplin, Mrs. Newman, Mrs. Peart, Mrs. Spence, Ms. Ennis, Vivienne Box and Mr. Turner who prepared the food and served.

Delsie Ramsey Huffstead, the co-ordinator and supervisor.

I am, etc.,

CLAUDETTE SEAL
