Stop being ungrateful

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I WAS told recently about someone who went to Jamaica to visit relatives but before she took her trip to Jamaica she was asked to bring a pair of sneakers for a young man. When she got to Jamaica and gave the sneakers to the young man this was the response to her dismay.
I quote "Is who you a bring dis come give, me no wear dem tings yah me no wear nutten but NAME BRAND." Now, when I heard I couldn't help thinking if that ungrateful person ever thought of how hard she had to work to save up and to be able to take the trip to bring him that sneakers.
We recently had a day when the temperature was between -15F° and -30F°. Since the year started we've had maybe 6 days that have been above freezing. Recently I cleaned more that 8 inches of snow off my vehicle and still had to get to work on time. We need to stop giving people the impression that the moment they leave Jamaica and come here all their worries are over. And to all of the ungrateful ones, when someone bring you something when they decide to come to Jamaica accept what this person is giving you and say thanks because you have no idea in the world what this person may have gone through to get that gift they gave you. Get your heads out of the clouds and quit thinking that 'Farin' is a bed of roses because it is far from it.
