Wray, Shirley to head Grace's merged Financial Services Division
published: Sunday | February 15, 2004

Shirley

WAYNE WRAY has been appointed president of First Global Bank Ltd. and Sandra Shirley, president of First Global Financial Services Ltd., the two companies which are being created by the impending mergers of entities in the Financial Services Division of Grace, Kennedy & Co. Ltd.

ANNOUNCEMENT

This announcement was made by Don Wehby, chief financial officer, Grace, Kennedy & Co. Ltd. and chief operating officer, Financial Services Division. He explained that the mergers involve, on the one hand, the union of First Global Bank and George & Branday to establish First Global Bank Ltd; and, on the other hand, the union of the securities companies, stock broking, lease financing and pension fund management companies to form First Global Financial Services Ltd.

Mr. Wehby pointed out that these mergers would not be operational until final approval is given by the Bank of Jamaica and the Financial Services Commission.

He stated that Mr. Wray who is currently managing director of George & Branday Ltd. had done an outstanding job in this capacity; while Sandra Shirley has established a formidable track record in the banking and investment fields over the years.

EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE

Before pursuing a career at the University of the West Indies, Sandra Shirley was the senior general manager of NCB's Wealth Management Division and WITCO. "With leaders of such a high calibre and the fact that all the entities involved in the mergers have recorded excellent performances in the last financial year, we are confident that we have provided a platform which will result in improved efficiencies and even stronger performances from the new companies," Mr. Wehby said.
