Jamaica is like a toddler

THE EDITOR, Sir:
JAMAICA IS like a toddler learning to balance, trying to walk. Every time she gets up she falls. Her little bones are filled with pus corruption. Con-stant borrowing cannot solve the deficit in a business. This can only be done by earnings. Listening to Ja-maica's economists, we the grassroots people, are confused. They say one thing today, ano-ther tomorrow regarding the economy. "What gone bad a morning caan come good a evening". The Government's economic policies need new men with new ideas. Dr. Donald Rhodd, PNP State Minister of Education, said in Parliament that 25 per cent of Jamaica's population is mentally ill (Gleaner Wednesday 21/1/2004).
THE MINISTER IS SO RIGHT
Sir, I think the minister is so right or else his PNP Government could not have been re-elected for four consecutive terms 15 years, when so much crime, so much corruption, so much poverty, unemployment and injustice stalk the land. How long will it run while the people suffer? The more the Government borrows other people's money the more it squanders, the more it taxes the poor, we are now almost skin and bones.
The Government now borrows 200 million euros (US$253 million) not to mention that which we already owe in the billions. Omar, please stop the borrowing and find other ways to lessen the burden.
I am, etc.,
