KINGSTON COLLEGE's Fabian Morgan and Jamaica College's Sharif Small were in record-breaking form at yesterday's final day of the National Hurdles and Field Events Championships (NHFEC) held at G.C. Foster College.

Morgan, a final year Class One competitor, threw the shot put 17.78 metres to erase his own one-year mark of 17.25 while Small threw 46.16m in the boys' Class Two discus to rewrite Munro College's Rory Marsh's old mark of 42.38m.

These, added to Sheneka Parkes' 43.28m javelin record established on Friday's opening day, were the only school records to be broken over the two-day meet.

Meanwhile, the hotly anticipated battle between St. Jago's Nadina Marsh and Vere Technical's Keisha Brown did not happen as the latter failed to start, citing the Gibson Relays as a better option.

In her absence, Marsh had things easy as she won by about six metres in an impressive 13.7 seconds ahead of Tracey-Ann Rowe of Holmwood Technical (14.0) and teammate Kashain Page (14.3).

In other female hurdles, Indira Spence of Vere (13.8) won Class Two while Natasha Ruddock of St. Jago (11.5) took the Class Three 80m.

On the boys' side, Matthew Palmer of Wolmer's (13.9) took advantage of the absence of Ardenne's Brian Haye to win the boys' Class One 110m event ahead of Daren Coley of KC (14.2). Jamaica College's Romaine Gordon (14.4) was triumphant in Class Two.

National Under-20 champion Althea Duncan of Holmwood won the girls' triple jump Open with a leap of 12.43m. She won ahead of Latoya Heat of St. Andrew (12.07) and Vere's Kimberly Williams (12.04).

Wilbert Walker of Morant Bay won the Class One triple jump, leaping 15.02m ahead of Carlos Mattis of KC (14.91), while the Under-17 boys' event went to Nicholas Gordon of Calabar (12.95).

In the boys' Class Two high jump, Orlando Duffus of JC and Andrew Riley of Calabar jumped identical 1.90ms, while Chad Brown of Campion took the boys' Class Three equivalent, leaping 1.80m.

In the girls' Class One high jump, Ann-Kay Campbell of St. Andrew leapt 1.70 for victory ahead of Kemisha Creary of Vere (1.65) and Natoya Thompson of Holmwood (1.60).

St. Jago's Tamara Francis (5.83m) won the girls' Class Two long jump, beating Rose-Marie White of Holmwood (5.69m). In the boys' Class Three event, Brandon Thomas of Calabar (5.56m) beat St. Jago's Andre Walsh (5.50) and Wolmer's Christopher Waugh (5.40m).

Nadia Alexander of St. Hugh's 12.18m won the girls' shot put Open, beating Manning's Shannika Johnson (11.11m) and Keniesha Throughsingh of Vere (10.85m). Kadian Samuels (5.42m) of St. Jago was victorious in the girls' Class Three long jump ahead of Vere's Kimberly Williams (5.40m).
