Jamaica Gleaner Letters
published: Tuesday | February 24, 2004

Strive for balance of freedom, restraint
THE EDITOR, Sir; I WRITE in response to the letter from Ava Rhule entitled "The implications of decriminalisation," published on Saturday, February 22nd.

Very saddened
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM a childhood friend of one of Superintendent Lloyd 'Tony' McDonald's brothers, and am very saddened to hear of the brutal killing of SSP McDonald last Friday night. It seems so unreal to me even now.

Jamaican justice
THE EDITOR, Sir: JAMAICAN JUSTICE. So Adams is cleared. HA-HA-HA. I wonder if a court will ever have an opportunity to express an opinion. I now understand why chaos reigns supreme.

Proper order long overdue
THE EDITOR, Sir: IF I may tag on to the recent discussions about the KSAC's attempt to reform the rules that govern sign-erecting in Jamaica. The time is overdue for some proper order in this industry.

Misleading headline
THE EDITOR Sir, I REFER to letter by Dean Archer in The Sunday Gleaner headlined "Our children are horrendous". The headline, while clear in apparently describing the reality perceived in present day society, is also misleading.

Seek, find and destroy
THE EDITOR, Sir: RE THE execution of SSP McDonald: I will bet my last dollar, this is a message to Commissior Forbes about his death threat.

Violence vs homosexuality
THE EDITOR, Sir: WHILE I do not endorse homosexual/alternate-lifestyle practices, I also do not endorse the violence, bigotry, ignorance and hatred perpetrated by homophobes.

Teachers must take a stand
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM very surprised at the article about the "gay" student's ordeal. Where were the school's counsellors and the many teachers employed to protect every child?

Better witness protection needed
THE EDITOR, Sir: ALLEGATIONS ARE two men killed in Central Village were as a result of one being a material witness in a case before the Gun Court scheduled to begin next month.

Look out, Mr. Nelson
THE EDITOR, Sir: SOME IN the JLP will only be satisfied when Jamaica under this present government deteriorates into a similar situation that now exists in Haiti.
