THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM submitting this letter being very distraught about the killing of police officer Lloyd McDonald. Chantelle, who is officer McDonald's oldest daughter happens to be my cousin-in-law, so you can understand how I felt when I heard the news of the death of her father.
Being a Jamaican living in the United States, I am afraid of even going back to my own country for a vacation. Jamaican killers are inhuman; they have no mercy for human beings. They are trying their hardest to be like Americans, but in America people just don't take your life from you so easily. When you hear of someone getting killed by guns, it's either because of drugs or gangs or something of that issue.
Jamaica is too small to have such a bad crime rate. If these selfish killers don't stop the violence, then I believe that somehow Jamaica will go down businesswise, because you better believe that tourists will stop using Jamaica as a vacation spot, and if they don't want that to happen then something needs to be done.
My heart goes out to the McDonald family. Jamaican gunmen, please drop your guns and turn to God, He is coming soon and it's not too late.
I am, etc.,
S. HALL
