THE EDITOR, Sir:
Re: Article published in Daily Gleaner dated 17/2/04 - "St. Elizabeth Councillors lashed contractor"
I hereby respond on behalf of the St. Elizabeth Parish Council, stating that at no time in our meeting of February 12, 2004 at the St. Elizabeth Parish Council did any Councillor or Officer of the Council question the quality of work that was carried out on the Hill Top and Brompton Lane roads in the parish.
The question and concern raised was in relation to certain sections of the roads that were still in disrepair. This led to a misunderstanding amongst some Councillors who were unaware of the nature of the contract.
I must also categorically state that at no time did eighty per cent (80%) of the Councillors criticise your Company for sloppy work in the parish, as most of the Councillors were unfamiliar with the two (2) projects in question.
However, I recognise the inconvenience that this article may have caused your Company and in light of this, I hereby apologise on behalf of the St. Elizabeth Parish Council.
I am, etc.,
FRANKLYN WITTER
Mayor of Black River
Chairman Parish Council
