CMC:
FORMER WORLD Indoor champions Sandie Richards and Juliet Campbell are in a formidable 24-member Jamaica team for this weekend's 10th IAAF World Indoor Championship in Budapest, Hungary.
Richards, a two-time 400-metre gold medalist (1993 and 2001), and Campbell, who was 200-metre champion in 2001, are among 14 women on the team.
Rising sprint star Asafa Powell, who burst to international prominence with 100-metre wins at the Brussels Golden League meet and Rieti Grand Prix events last September, and won the 60 metres at the Millrose Games last month in New York, leads the 13-member men's list.
The squad also includes reigning Pan Am Games champions Brigitte Foster (sprint hurdles) and Germaine Mason (high jump) and Olympic medalists James Beckford (long jump) and Gregory Haughton (400 metres).
At the previous World Indoors in Birmingham, England last year, Jamaica collected two silver medals - the men's 1600-metre relay and the women's 1600-metre relay.
The three-day meet starts Friday and ends Sunday.
