THE EDITOR, Sir:
HELLO, ANYBODY there? Where have you been, Mr Prime Minister? The precedent (U.S., French, etc. doing regime changes) has been set a long, long time ago, and has been repeated over and over again!
Are we so naive that we take this 'democracy' thing seriously? Can we not yet see that the constant bleating about 'democracy' by the historically imperialistic nations is an excuse to inimically interfere in the internal affairs of other nations?
If one does not recognise democracy and in fact undermines it in his presidential election, do you expect that that same someone will care much about democracy elsewhere, especially in a nation of African people? The very obvious aiding and abetting of the violent overthrow in Haiti by its strong neighbour to the North is yet another devilish example of the powerful running amok.
Wasn't it one of your wise countrymen who said to the effect that, 'there's no law but strength, and no justice but power'?
Do you not remember ole Marcus Garvey?
It's not about democracy. It's about the powerful doing what they damn well please until they can be stopped.
I am, etc.,
