Sylvia Allison
published: Thursday | March 11, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM writing this letter to ask for your assistance in locating my birth mother and her family. Her name is Sylvia Allison and at the time of my birth on June 25, 1963 she was a citizen of Kingston, Jamaica. I was born in New York, at Harlem Hospital and my father's name is Samuel U. Murrain. My birth certificate reflects that she was 26 years old and only visiting this country and had one son prior to my birth. I have recently contacted the U.S. Department of Immigration to find her last known address. The U.S. embassy in Jamaica suggested that I write to your newspaper a letter and ask for help in finding my family.

I was raised by my father's family and have never had any contact with her or her family. According to my father after giving birth to me my mother returned to Jamaica. I am 40 years old now and living in Fremont, California. I am a health care administration professional with two Master's degrees, one from Yale University. So, I am doing fine.

For whatever the reasons at this point in my life I have chosen to look for her and my family. The goal of this search is merely to answer some questions and fill in the missing pieces.

Should Sylvia Allison or anyone of the Allison family want to contact me I can be reached at jemurrain@yahoo.com.

I am, etc.,

JOHN EDMOND
