Aristide should stay indefinitely
published: Wednesday | March 17, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

LET ME congratulate the Government of my country for allowing Mr. Aristide to be in my home. I have never been a supporter of Mr. Aristide, however, barring criminal acts against the Haitian people I believe that we need to be neighbourly. Not only should he be allowed to stay indefinitely, but we should not be cowered into enforcing the decision of others unless it is moral and supported by the majority of our population.

We have grown since the days of subjugation, we have obeyed our foreign masters faithfully, now is the time to demonstate our maturity as a young nation and do the right thing. Let us create the conditions for the dreams of our peoples to be fulfilled. Let us be our own man/woman. God bless Jamaica.

I am etc,
