
The unveiling of the Coca-Cola/Mother's partnership in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
- ContributedIN AN overwhelming vote of confidence for business in Spanish Town, St. Catherine Coca-Cola and Mother's launched their islandwide partnership at the Mother's branch in that town earlier this month.
Guest speaker, Minister of Industry and Tourism, the Hon. Aloun N'dombet-Assamba, observed that the coming together of Coca-Cola and Mother's attests to "the vision of their leadership," and congratulated them on choosing Spanish Town for the launch.
"It is good that the signing is taking place here," she commented, "as it shows that despite the challenges we face in this historic town, there are positive developments taking place right here that gives all of us hope." Minister N'dombet-Assamba reminded the audience that Mother's was the first local fast food chain to be launched in Jamaica in 1981, and has always sought to serve indigenous Jamaican products. The Minister expressed her appreciation to Facey Commodity and Coca Cola for expanding their business in Jamaica.
General Manager of Coca-Cola, Carl O'Brien, emphasised the importance of the Jamaican market to his company and said that their investment in Jamaica is for the long term. He congratulated their partners, Mother's "for its range of quality products," and said that the alliance is "destined for success as it twins two first class products and companies, which have become an integral part of the Jamaican landscape."
Mr. O'Brien presented a cheque to Spanish Town Mayor Dr. Raymoth Notice, as his company's contribution towards Dr. Notice's efforts to promote peace in the community. He encouraged the people of Spanish Town to stand up for their community, recalling the Irish experience, which he said was just as challenging but changed for the better when the people decided that they would stand up for peace and unity in their country.
COMPANY'S COMMITTMENT
Mother's General Manager, Richard Foreman, reiterated his company's commitment to Spanish Town, observing that this very popular branch was staffed by "trusted and diligent individuals," who are residents of the area.
Mayor Dr. Raymoth Notice welcomed the Minister and corporate representatives to his town and expressed his faith in the citizens of the area. The occasion was blessed by Head of the Peace Management Initiative, Bishop Hero Blair, who called upon residents to support peace, so that businesses like Mother's/Coca-Cola can continue to thrive to benefit their town.
In attendance were Coca-Cola representatives from Trinidad, Lisa-Ann Joseph and Petal Paris Charles, as well as local representatives Richard Pandohie and James Powell; Mother's Managing Director Carlysle Hudson and Director Robyn Foreman.
