Apologise, Mrs. Porteous
published: Friday | March 26, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

REFERENCE IS made to a letter to the media and which was published in the Gleaner of March 22, 2004, written by Mrs. Sally Porteous, 'Mandeville Needs Water'.

When confronted on a radio call-in programme, I asked Mrs. Porteous to state as factual the contents of her letter she immediately conceded that "somebody told her so".

Mrs. Porteous misstated the facts, and she could have easily got the tape recording of what I said from the radio station on which I spoke on Wednesday, March 17, 2004.

I call on Mrs. Porteous to immediately apologise to all the media houses for giving them a false statement and having a number of them publish same.

I am, etc.,

HARRY G. DOUGLAS J.P.

Minister of State

Ministry of

Water and Housing
