Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Police need public support, not disdain
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WISH to express my concern about the attitude of the general populace toward members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. I have often heard them being referred to as 'the police bwoy' and other derogatory names.

Chaos in the society
THE EDITOR, Sir: WHERE THERE is no justice, terror roams. Injustice and corruption are bedfellows. Politics mixed with corruption is like poison to the human society.

Good move, CARICOM
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM saluting CARICOM on the stand it has taken on Haiti. Let us get the truth. The world must know whether President Aristide did resign or was kidnapped.

Great Bay bad road
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WISH to use this medium to inform our Member of Parliament, the Hon. Minister Donald Buchanan, and the National Works Agency, of the deplorable condition of the Great Bay Road.

Bitter pill for returning residents
THE EDITOR, Sir: IF JAMAICA would put on their priority list the medical situation in the island and try to have a properly equipped hospital in all major towns, with ambulances, etc., a lot more overseas residents would return home.

Do not bash Dawn
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM extremely disturbed with the person who wrote a letter 'bashing' Dawn Ritch with regard to the United States of America's response to the Prime Minister of Jamaica about the Haitian crisis.

Violating Negril
THE EDITOR, Sir: HAVING RECENTLY visited Negril I was struck by the flagrant abuse and violation of the building and statutory regulations.

...JAMALCO
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE CLARENDON Chamber of Commerce extends congratulations and well wishes to the shareholders, management and staff of JAMALCO on their initiative to expand the production capacity at the Halse Hall refinery.

...Dr Crooks
THE EDITOR, Sir: KINDLY PERMIT me to publicly say thanks to Dr. Crooks and his mobile team for the high level of professionalism they displayed at the scene of an accident in which I was involved on Friday, February 20, 2004 on Milford Road, Ocho Rios.

My father
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM at present residing in London, England and I am trying to locate my father Mr. Lascelles Brown of Kingston, Jamaica.
