Great Bay bad road

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I WISH to use this medium to inform our Member of Parliament, the Hon. Minister Donald Buchanan, and the National Works Agency, of the deplorable condition of the Great Bay Road. It has become a dust bowl, and very dangerous to drive on because of so many large potholes.
This once prosperous fishing village is swiftly slipping away into poverty. Many families who have a piece of land around the house are now using it to plant quick crops like melon and cantaloupe to supplement the meagre turnover from the sea. Goat-rearing was a source of income, however, most farmers are getting out because of praedial larceny (goat thieves).
We have good lands that are cut off from the community. These lands need roads so they can be brought into production.
I beg of the powers that be to come to the aid of the young people before they slip away into never-never-land.
I am, etc.,
