THE PORT Authority of Jamaica has won the award for being the 'Most Responsive Port' in the Dream World Cruise Destinations magazine annual survey of ports and destinations world-wide.
The award, which is determined by the feedback from representatives of international cruise lines, recognises that the "port has demonstrated effective co-operation and partnership with public/private organisations, enabling them to react and find solutions to the demands of the industry and to the many challenges of investing for future growth."
The award was shared with Jacksonville, USA, with commendations going to several European ports as well as Aruba, Panama and the Canary Islands. In another category, "Best Turnaround Operations" the port of Montego Bay also received commendation.
William Tatham, VP Cruise Shipping & Marina Operations of the Port Authority, who was on hand at the recent ceremony in Miami to receive the award on behalf of the Port Authority, said it was a proud moment for all Jamaica. "Jamaica has made several strides toward improving the service we offer our cruise ship visitors and the cruise lines which continue to support us. This award is recognition of those efforts."
TREMENDOUS WORK
Publisher & Editor Chris Ashcroft, echoed these sentiments by saying that, "The category in which Jamaica was successful acknowledges the tremendous work done by the Port Authority since they took over the administration of the cruise segment."
Dream World Cruise Destinations is the only magazine dedicated to the port and destination sector of the industry. With a circulation of 7000 amongst cruise line managers and executives as well as a highly selective list of high producing travel agents in the US, UK and German markets, the magazine is now recognised as the voice of the port and destination sector as it seeks to highlight and promote individual cruise tourism products.
