Why should Ja resume ties with Haiti?

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM compelled to respond to the article, 'Haiti to resume ties with Jamaica' which was published in the on-line edition of The Gleaner, dated April 19, 2004.
I would like to know why should Jamaica resume ties with Haiti, when there is no duly elected president in Haiti. And why do the regional heads of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) continue to condone the insurgents in Haiti overthrowing a duly elected president?
It is time that the heads of the CARICOM expel all the Haitian ambassadors from their countries until Haiti allows the majority of Haitian people to vote for a president, rather than support a hand picked interim Haitian Prime Minister. There should not be any deliberation about the decision of expelling the ambassadors. This is the only way the thugs in Haiti are going to respect a democratically elected president. In addition, this is good for the future social, economic, and political development of Haiti.
I am, etc.,
