By Levaughn Flynn, Staff Reporter"IF YOU fail to prepare then prepare to fail," uttered Waterhouse coach Kenneth 'Bop' Campbell as their Wray & Nephew National Premier League (NPL) season came to an end yesterday after losing 0-3 to Harbour View at home.
Luton Shelton's double in the 87th and 91st minutes and Craig Stewart's opening goal in the 50th minute secured the win for Harbour View, who are entering the semi-finals on 65 points and $700,000 richer for finishing the league with the second most points behind Tivoli (70).
Campbell, who joined the team early in the third round, said his team failed to prepare adequately in the week leading up to yesterday's match.
"I'm not finding any fault I thought Harbour View played well but I don't think the team was prepared properly this week," he said. "For the first two to three days nobody come to training and when we had a training we had five men.
NO URGENCY
"With us trying to make the semi-final, our team showed no urgency today. It's like we were just going through the motions." Campbell added.
However, had Waterhouse won they still would not have advanced to the semi-finals as Village United, who were three points ahead of the Drewsland team, secured the necessary point against Portmore United with a 0-0 draw.
Goalkeeper Leeroy Gray may have saved the day for Harbour View as he was impeccable at denying Waterhouse time and again. Waterhouse moved beautifully off the ball and earned themselves some handsome opportunities but Gray was there for the denial on each attempt.
After taking a 1-0 lead Harbour View tightened their backline with sweeper William Richards being the filter for Gray.
"Leeroy's performance was really excellent. We needed our goalkeeper to come up with a big performance and he did that and in very important parts of the game, whether it was 0-0 or 1-0. I always felt that he was keeping us in the game and I think he lifted the team today with his performance," said Harbour View coach Donovan Hayles.
