Do not accept those gifts
published: Tuesday | May 4, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE COURT system and the police should not accept gifts. The practice against taking gifts is normal in first world countries where justice is taken seriously. One of the implications for those who administer justice taking gifts is that it can or appears to compromise the administration of justice.

How can I be 'properly judged' if I am in front of a judge who is sitting in a chair that the person whom I have a matter against just gave the judge a chair. I can hear certain saying "nonsense, our judges are of the highest integrity" but let us get serious about serious matters.

One of the main elements of destruction in my little country is giving a bligh. Bligh has opened many gates to bad precedents making the country lawless, out of order, and hard to govern. Yet nothing is done to rectify the situation.

I am, etc.,
