THE EDITOR, Sir:
I JUST want the public to acknowledge the fact that there are too many substantial things in our country at this time that portray sex. Is this really the only thing that most people in Jamaica can relate to? This is just not the right type of example that influential people should be setting for the younger generation of this country.
The minds of our young and their morals are already corrupted with sex as being their major priority. If you simply take a look at the advertisements on television, there is one aspect of life mostly conveyed, and that is sex. I am most certainly not talking about the advertisements that involve spread of AIDS, but advertisements about sex.
Furthermore, the lyrics of some of our locally produced music are also very sexually suggestive. How can one allow their young child growing up in Jamaica to be taught such a bad concept?
This has to be stopped. The people of Jamaica and their children have the right to an environment where they are not so unnecessarily exposed to sex and its perversion. People need to have respect for themselves and others. I find this matter extremely disturbing. Jamaicans need to monitor explicit sexual contents to which their children are exposed.
