THE EDITOR, Sir;
I AM saddened to learn of the untimely departure of Edward Seaga as the leader of the Jamaica Labour Party and the way he has been treated by members of the party.
I am in my early 40s and having lived in my country during a time when both the People's National Party and the JLP governed our country, I have seen what we were forced to endure. Let me also say I am totally shocked and disappointed in Mr Bruce Golding. As one of the 'old-timers' he should be one of those standing behind it's leader no matter what. Shame on you Mr. Golding.
As one writer pointed out, and I am in total agreement, the wealth of knowledge and experience that Mr. Seaga has, as leader of the JLP and of Jamaica is second to none in the party and, if for no other reason, he should be given all the respect he deserves.
And to the "young blood" in the party, none of you will ever be able to achieve what Mr. Seaga has, not with the attitude that you all have displayed. It doesn't matter what your disagreements are with the party leader, my mother always told us as kids, there is a wrong way and a right way of doing things, and, it is clear you chose the wrong way.
I am etc.,
