PRUDENCE KIDD-DEANS, special assistant to Opposition Leader Edward Seaga, has been selected for appointment to the Senate.
The Gleaner has learned that an official statement will be made today, indicating that Mrs. Kidd-Deans was selected by Mr. Seaga to replace David Panton, who resigned from the Senate in March. Mr. Panton suddenly relinquished his position as an Opposition Senator to pursue career interests abroad.
Mrs. Kidd-Deans is the daughter of educator Daniel Warren-Kidd, Snr., and a former deputy general secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party. Prior to the party's annual conference last year, she withdrew from the race for the post of general secretary.
