Why special treatment for 'Babsy'?
published: Tuesday | July 20, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

CENTRAL ST. Catherine, Member of Parliament Olivia 'Babsy' Grange was questioned last week about her connection regarding the ownership of a vehicle in which slain reputed criminal gang leader Oliver Smith, was driving at the time of his death. Press reports say she was questioned by the police for several hours.

My question is: Why was MP Grange questioned in a hotel room and not at a police station? As long as such a ridiculous situation exists where the rule of law appears to have been replaced by 'blys', then questionable practices will cultivate the seeds of crime and the blood of Jamaicans will continue to cascade like Yallahs river.

I am, etc.,
