Anderson
JAMAICAN BASS baritone, Robert Winslade Anderson, will be in the spotlight for the second time at the University Chapel, Mona campus, on August 8.
Product of Fay Ennever-Robotham, Anderson, was awarded a four-year scholarship by the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London, England, to study Classical Music at the Royal Academy Music, of London.
Now entering his final postgraduate year of the Royal Academy Opera course, he studies with Mark Wildman and coach Antony Saunders. Master classes have included noted Jamaican bass baritone, Sir. Willard White, Robert Tear, Udo Reinemann, Harry Coghill, Dennis O'Neil and John Tomlinson.
ACCOMPLISHED CONCERT PIANIST
At the event in August, Mr Anderson will be accompanied by accomplished English concert pianist Juliet Allen. His Excellency, the most Honourable Sir. Howard Cooke and Lady Cooke are among the distinguished patrons for this event which promises to be an evening to be remembered.
Highly decorated in his field, Mr. Anderson has swooped up a number of prizes and awards. These include the Kiwanis International Music Festival Silver Tray Award, ABRSM International Scholarship, The ABRSM Macklin Bursary, the Oratorio prize, the Major Van Someren-Godfery Prize for English Song, 2nd Place in the Blyth Buesst Operatic Prize, The RAM Foundation Prize & the Tom Hammon Opera Prize.
GRACED MANY STAGES
Anderson also have graced many concert stages with works which include Handel's Messiah (Essex Massed Choirs and Symphony Orchestra), Judas Maccabaeus (Amersham and Chesham Choral Society), Mendelssohn's Elijah, (Westminster Central Hall), Puccini's Messa di Gloria, (London Welsh Chorale & Sinfonia), Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, (East London Choral Society). Excerpts from Bach's Weinachts Oratorium in Erlangen, Germany, Johannes-Passion, (Leeds Baroque Orchestra conducted by Peter Holman).
He was also the featured bass soloist in a concert presentation of Purcell's 'King Arthur' with the Royal Academy of Music's Modern Instrument Baroque Orchestra. He recently made his BBC Promotional Debut and will be singing in the chorus of the 'monk's' in Birmingham Opera Company's production of Benjamin Britten's 'Curlew River'.
Upcoming concerts include Verdi's Requiem at Exeter Cathedral, and Haydn's Creation with the Guernsey Choral Society in England.
