Thanks, request granted
published: Thursday | July 29, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

SOMETIME AGO I wrote a letter re: the request for signatures to the American Postal Services for a stamp in commemoration of Paul Robeson.

Despite the request, I myself received a letter from the department that the request would not be granted. A new turnaround took place with the issue of the Paul Robeson stamp at the beginning of this year.

To confirm this issue, a friend has recently sent me the enclosed cutting bearing the Paul Robeson stamp. I do not know if you were aware that the stamp was issued this year.

As I did write a letter on the matter ,which was given publicity and led to some correspondence from Jamaica in support, and some on other matters. I will appreciate your kind publication on the successful outcome to the request. In case you have already done so, please accept this letter with thanks for your attention.

As a Jamaican activist, I appreciate your kind publication on local and international affairs.

I am, etc.,

H.C. GUNTER
