Investigate unscrupulous officials

THE EDITOR, Sir:
THE IMPEACHMENT proposal that has been suggested by the back-benchers in the House of Parliament is long overdue. Too many Members of Parliament and public servants align themselves with people of ill repute. There are some who will use any means possible to gain power, and for too long this type of innuendo has been allowed to continue without investigation or any sanction.
If people that are perceived to be of dubious character are allowed to operate as public servants, then no wonder the society that we live in has become callous and has no respect for the law. It is about time a system is put in place to prevent such persons from holding public office. This is one of the major proposals that has been advanced from the inception of the NDM, that people of dubious character and those perceived to be linked to drugs and criminal elements should not be allowed to hold public office.
I have personally called for Members of Parliament and public figures to openly distance themselves from certain lawless elements, so that a message would be sent to these persons of ill repute, that there is no safe haven for them under the umbrella of any political party.
I am, etc.,
