NOT A hemline or seam was out of place on Wednesday as graduates of the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) performed their passing-out parade on the grounds of The Jamaica Police Academy.

This group is the second set to have graduated under the new initiative of the ISCF, said Inspector Trevor Christie of the institution. This new initiative means that members of the ISCF will focus mainly on such issues as transport, street patrol and traffic management, to name a few.

The programme, which ran for six months, originally started out with 150 participants. However, the count was three short as individuals had departed from the group before time for various reasons, according to Inspector Christie.

"The level of discipline with this set is just as outstanding as the previous group and I am confident that they can display a strict sense of authority on which the country can depend," he added.

COMMENDATION

Commissioner of police, Francis A. Forbes, took the general salute and inspected the men and women on parade. The Commissioner, in delivering the main address to the graduates, commended them for performing a precision drill with upright chins and heads held high.

He said that he takes it as a true representation of what he can expect from them when it comes to securing and maintaining the main objective of the ISCF through authority and the added discipline they would have acquired throughout their training. Special Constable Dwayne Taylor, a member of the graduating batch, said he is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the team working towards minimising the crime rate in Jamaica.

As the showers of blessing started to rain on the parade, the Jamaica national flag and the official flag of the JCF swayed together in unison on the grounds of the academy, in what could only be described as a symbol of dedication to Jamaica of the Constabulary Force.
