A time for patience
THE SLOW and painstaking but necessary work of assessing damage to key utilities and their restoration to full service will undoubtedly test the patience of many Jamaicans in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.

Criminals worse than Ivan
WE EXPERIENCED many near misses since the infamous Hurricane Gilbert almost exactly 16 years ago. Even when international weather experts predicted direct hits for the island, the storms and hurricanes would somehow detour and we were always spared.


Defining moments
Nine/12, 9/11 & 9/10 were all defining moments in the history of Jamaica. 9/12 marks the date of Hurri-cane Gilbert that devastated the island of Jamaica on September 12, 1988.
