Fewer persons in shelters
THE OFFICE of Disaster Preparedness and Emer-gency Management (ODPEM) is reporting a reduction in the number of Jamaicans in shelters, with the latest figure being more than 600 persons in 27 shelters across the island.

NWA clean-up project well under way
THE NATIONAL Works Agency (NWA) said 10 days after the passage of Hurricane Ivan, it has managed to clear well over 70 per cent of reported storm-related roadblocks.


Lost fish traps worry fishermen
WESTERN BUREAU: FISHERMEN IN Westmoreland, now reeling from the loss of their fish traps as a result of Hurricane Ivan, are more concerned about the greater environmental impact the lost traps will have on the fish population.
