THE NEW president of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce is Noel DaCosta, corporate relations director of Red Stripe. Mr. DaCosta succeeds Michael A. Ammar, Jr. who served as president of the JCC for two consecutive terms.
Mr. DaCosta was unanimously elected yesterday at the annual general meeting of the JCC, held at its Duke Street offices, downtown Kingston.
He has been employed to Desnoes and Geddes for the past 30 years in such posts as chief engineer, Brewmaster, technical director and director of planning and administration. A chemical engineer by training, Mr. DaCosta is a chartered engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers (U.K.), a Fellow of the Jamaica Institute of Engineers, as well as a past president of that organisation.
He is currently the chairman of Petrojam Limited and a director of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica. He chairs the board of the Caribbean Breweries Association, as well as a multi-disciplinary committee which is preparing a modern building code for Jamaica.
