Thank you, JCF, Atlas
published: Friday | October 29, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

OUR HEARTFELT gratitude to members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Atlas Security Company who performed an angelic deed for us recently.

We were on our way from Portmore on October 18 when the private vehicle we were travelling in developed difficulties and shut off entirely while travelling on Port Royal Street, downtown Kingston.

This occurred approximately 8 o'clock. Apprehensive, scared and panicking we felt doomed, lost. We were discussing the tension in the area following Zeke's arrest minutes before this happened.

Our saviours appeared in the form of two policemen who appeared on the scene and came over to our rescue at once. For several minutes they employed various strategies to assist but they were all futile. Scores of vehicles passed but didn't even slow down.

Then miraculously another security vehicle came along- Atlas Security. They too tried to revive our burnt-out battery but to no avail. Luckily for us a rope was in our vehicle and with the police travelling behind us we were escorted home in fine style.

With this, we must say sincere thanks to those members of the Atlas Security team, whose names we did not get and to Corporal Dixon and Bassette from the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Keep on doing your best to help your brothers and sisters and may God provide you and your family with the added strength you need to survive in these trying times.

We are, etc.,

Maxine Jones
