17-y-o remanded for buggery
published: Monday | November 1, 2004

By Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

SPANISH TOWN:

A 17-YEAR-OLD youth, who is charged with buggery, was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court last week Tuesday.

The court learnt that the complainant, who is 11 years old, was at the home of the accused playing video games when it is alleged he held her down and buggered her. The court also heard that the complainant reported to her mother the ordeal and the mother was also threatened by the accused man's brother, who is still on the run. A subsequent report was lodged at the Spanish Town Police Station and investigations spearheaded by Constable Julian Martin-Findlay led to the arrest of the juvenile.

When he appeared in court, he pleaded not guilty.

After hearing the serious nature of the allegations, Resident Magistrate Lorna Errar Gayle summoned a relative of the accused who was outside, and enquired if they will be seeking legal assistance.

The juvenile was remanded until November 9 when he will reappear in court.
