PM gets a new press secretary
published: Monday | November 1, 2004

SENIOR DIRECTOR for communications and change management in the Cabinet Office, Sandra Graham, has assumed duties as press secretary to Prime Minister P.J. Patterson.

A statement issued by Jamaica House last Friday said Mrs. Graham has been seconded to head the Communication and Public Relations Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister, effective September 20.

FINDINGS

In September of last year, Mrs. Graham was appointed by the prime minister as part of a five-member team to carry out a review of government communications and make recommendations that would strengthen that aspect of governmental operations. The findings and recommendations led to the formation of a network of government communications practitioners.

Mrs. Graham chairs the Government Communications Group, which was established in January of this year to co-ordinate government communications activities and facilitate greater dialogue and an easier flow of information between the government and the public.
