Women are just as devious
published: Wednesday | November 3, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN RECENT times a senior official in the United Nations stated that fatherless children are a result of careless mothers. Though many may be tempted to scoff at this remark as crude and baseless there is, I believe, some truth to the statement.

For many years men have been blamed for their careless, carefree and irresponsible sexual behaviour. One must however note that in some cases a woman is the perpetrator of devious actions which result in the production of a child.

This may happen in an attempt to "hold on to a man". There are many women who have 'tricked' men into getting them pregnant by doing such things as boring holes in condoms. Some women who are getting older abandon birth control without the knowledge of the man and become pregnant.

The reality is that though in many cases men are to be blamed for their erratic behaviour there is a sense in which women are just as responsible and trick men into becoming "involuntary sperm donors".

I am etc,
