Scotia goes platinum
published: Sunday | November 28, 2004

George Phillip (left), Bridget Lewis (second left) and Peter Moses have fun with Scotiabank's Managing Director William Clarke.

BANK OF Nova Scotia Ja. Ltd. launched its Scotiabank Platinum Mastercard credit card on Wednesday at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

The card caters to the 'high networth customers' of BNS as well as the travel and entertainment sectors. The minimum you can start with is US$10,000.

Customers who attended Wednesday night's function were all pre-approved and left with 'live' cards, ready to be used.

The credit card is designed to give its holder unparalleled purchasing power, extremely satisfying rewards and a wide array of premium services. The card's range is exceptional as it can be used in more than 30 million retail and service establishments in 210 different countries. Card holders receive a rebate, in U.S. dollars, of up to two per cent of the value of their retail purchases.

The display at the Pegasus was intended to give the platinum card customers a look at what BNS considered the 'finer things in life'. A speedboat, Rolex watches from Swiss Stores and crystal from Bijoux completed the gallery-esque decor.
