THE EDITOR, Sir:I MUST COMMEND the person or persons responsible for bringing local dramatisation to our television screen.
However, after watching Royal Palm Estate on Sunday November 28, I am left with many mixed feelings and numerous questions have been coming to my mind.
The scenario with SSP Foster and Assistant Superintendent McLaren leaves much to be desired. I watched and listened attentively and was impressed with the thorough investigation conducted by SSP Foster. I think he deserves a medal.
However, I am still in awe at the response of Assistant Superintendent McLaren who was using his authority to blackmail SSP Foster into implicating an innocent person.
This goes to show the level of corruption implied existing in the Police Force. SSP Foster did well by not responding to his proposal. I want Assistant Commissioner McLaren and the other persons who are responsible for putting the script together to be mindful of the message they are sending to their ardent viewers.
That particular scenario I know has left a negative connotation on the police force.
I am concerned that not only has it done so; but it also places ideas in the minds of existing cops, especially juniors and it is rather pathetic that an act of corruption is not only heard of but is evident on our television screen.
I suggest that the scriptwriter be mindful of the message that is portrayed in future episodes.
I am, etc.
