THE EDITOR, Sir:I'VE WRITTEN to Dawn Ritch, and I've written about her insight about many of the ills that affect us all in Jamaica and the things she brings to light, but her article in Sunday's paper, November 21, was hilarious when she referred to Mayor McKenzie and the 40 Councillors of the KSAC as 'Ali Baba and the forty thieves'; and she had good reason to make the inference.
She is indeed correct when she said police don't get ticketed because another squaddie is not going to be giving another a ticket; Parish Councillors also, because of the camaraderie involved.
Ms. Ritch has pointed out a serious flaw in the distribution of parking places for the Mayor and his cohorts on Church Street and this should be corrected. On a whole the Mayor is doing a good job. At least he is visible unlike his predecessor.
Parking spaces downtown are scarce and proper allocation for the staff and the general public should be done because we the taxpayers are the ones paying the brunt of the taxes in this country and we're not getting our money's worth. To pay $500 for towing a car is way out of line and should be revoked. Mayor, please stay on the ball because the revitalisation of downtown Kingston is a must. I am hopeful you will with your hard work bring this dream to reality.
I am, etc.,
