THE EDITOR, Sir:
PLEASE GIVE me even a small space in your column to shine some light on the bad condition of the Dalvey Post Office since Hurricane Ivan hit Jamaica in September. The roof got damaged, and the people there were able to get a piece of tarpaulin to cover a part of the roof, but due to the length of time, the wind and rain made it useless, and water is coming in and wetting the workers, and whoever goes there to do business.
The condition there has become so bad, the workers have to be moving things around in the limited dry-space available. They even have to be squeezed into small corners so as not to get wet when it rains. I was informed that an estimate was done and sent to the relevant authority, and up to this time, nothing has been done.
UNNECESSARY HARDSHIPS
Will the people in authority come to the rescue of these people at the Dalvey Post Office, so that they can carry on their duties without this unnecessary hardship?
The Morant Bay P.O. is another disgraceful building. The ceiling material is falling out and can create great harm if ever a piece hits someone in the face. Will someone go and have a look and have it fixed before someone lose an eye, or both?
I am, etc.,
