... he was a beautiful human being

THE EDITOR, Sir:
THERE ARE many persons who have made a lasting impression to my life and I thank God for having known them. I have to admit that I am having a hard time coming to terms with the death of 'Richie', a kind, sweet soul who used to wipe my windscreen at the corner of Devon House and Hope Road I don't even want to drive the route anymore. I thank God for blowing such a breath of fresh air into my life and the lives of many others with such an effervescent, shining light.
There was never a morning that Richie would not bid a cheerful good morning and salute me with a kind word. On the Friday before he died, he told me "have a wonderful weekend" in his soft way and I told him to keep safe. I hope the police find the murderous savages and bring them to justice.
'Richie' was not just a windscreen wiper, he was a beautiful human being! The authorities had better find a solution to this wanton disregard of human life or we may all eventually face the same fate. May the angels keep you safe 'Richie' until we meet again.
I am, etc.,
