THE EDITOR, Sir:I HAVE just had the good fortune of reading Dr. Paul Chen Young's book, The Entrepre-neurial Journey in Jamaica When Policies Derail. My first reaction to it was, why did he wait so very long to document the chronicles of events that contributed to the downfall of his company and others like it. However, I suppose it is better late than never.
Today, I truly believe that the pages of the history of our financial institutions are truly enriched by this scholarly evaluation of what really caused the demise of the financial sector in the 1990s.
I also believe, this book should enlighten those gossipers, and those prophets of gloom and doom and help them to better understand what really went on in the 1990s.
I now recommend this book to all students of economics, particularly those majoring in banking and it is a 'must-read' for all aspiring Jamaican entrepreneurs. I believe they will all find it most enlightening.
I am, etc.,
