Samuels
JAMAICA MIDDLE-order batsman Marlon Samuels, who toured Australia with the West Indies squad for the VB Triangular Series, has been ruled out of Jamaica's next Carib Beer Series match against hosts Guyana, starting on Friday, due to a wrist problem.
Speaking to The Gleaner yesterday from Barbados, from where the team leaves today for Guyana, team
manager Maurice Clarke confirmed Samuels' withdrawal.
"He has an injured right wrist," Clarke said.
"It is affecting him while he is batting .... He can bat with it, but feels severe pain," explained Clarke.
FIRST INJURY
An MRI scan has been done on the wrist, which was first injured in Australia and then aggravated in the sixth-round clash against the Leeward Islands, which Jamaica lost on first innings points.
Upon his return to the island today, Samuels will visit a doctor for further check-ups.
Samuels joins teammate Chris Gayle as players returning from Australia now on the Jamaican injured list.
Off-spinner Bevon Brown left the island yesterday to join the Jamaican squad in Barbados before departing for the South American country.
