IN PRESENTING a copy of the documentary on the life and work of National Hero, The Right Excellent Norman Washington Manley, to His Excellency, Sir Howard Cooke, Governor-General, Ainsley Henriques, chairman of the Norman Washington Manley Foundation congratulated Sir Howard on his role in it and commended him to enjoy the viewing.

The documentary has been scripted and produced in six
thirty-minute episodes for television and as a teaching tool for schools. It will be available for sale on both DVD and VHS Video tapes. Schools will be provided copies by sponsors in due course. Hilary Nicholson, one of the principals of the producers Video for Change who have made many other films on significant Jamaicans, was present and spoke of the enormous effort that was expended to find the material.

The production was commissioned by the Norman Manley Foundation. Funding was provided by the Foundation and the CHASE Fund. The research and production took five years to be completed.

The Caribbean International Network (CIN) represented by Stephen Hill and their sponsors Capital and Credit Merchant Bank's Ryland Campbell, assured Sir Howard that over one million Jamaicans in the tri-state area are expected to view the first episode being shown this week Sunday in the U.S.A. Stephen Hill stated that it was important to link the large Caribbean Community to their rich history and culture and the airing of the six-part series will be warmly received by all Caribbean Nationals living in New York. He Congratulated Capital & Credit on taking the initiative and stated that Capital & Credit's sponsorship would positively impact the company's brand in the New York market and result in increased sales for the many services that they offer.

The Norman Manley Foundation is proud to be bringing this very important history of the man now known as 'Son of Jamaica, Father of the Nation' to the screens in every one's home and classroom. His grand daughter, Canada's governor general award-winning author of 'Drumblair', Rachel Manley, has the last word on the documentary, "An epic portrait of an intellectual and statesman who gave Jamaica its constitution, and whose life is an enduring example of struggle, responsibility and duty, of imagination, hard work and honour".
