GOVERNMENT AND the Opposition will resume bipartisan talks today.
The talks, which began after the October 2002 elections, fell victim to the cut and thrust of
competitive politics.
Jamaica House said yesterday that the renewed talks would take place at Vale Royal, the prime minister's official residence.
In a statement yesterday, the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party said it welcomed the resumption of the talks "in light of the current crime situation in the country."
The JLP's standing committee said that the talks were triggered by the ruling of the United Kingdom-based Privy Council against government's initial efforts to introduce the Caribbean Court of Justice.
But the Opposition said the talks would not be limited to that subject. Other constitutional matters are also expected to be discussed.
