CONTRACTORS WHO deliver the various products printed by the Gleaner Company were yesterday honoured by the newspaper for their many years of dedicated service.

"We love our job and we try to do our best," said Mrs. Leila Thompson, president of the Newspaper Delivery Contractors Association.

Speaking at the function on the roof garden of the newspaper's North Street headquarters, downtown Kingston, Mrs. Thompson pointed out that "contractors are a big part of this business", emphasising that she and her colleagues were proud to be a part of the 170-year-old newspaper company.

She noted too that they were pleased that the newspaper decided to recognise them in a formal function.

Oliver Clarke, the chairman and managing director of the Gleaner Company, lauded the contractors for their outstanding contributions to the newspaper, noting that they were playing a very important role in getting newspapers to readers across the island's 14 parishes.

OUTGOING CIRCULATION MANAGER

The contractors were also hailed by Norman Marshall, the newspaper's outgoing circulation manager, who was also honoured at yesterday's function for his service to the newspaper. Mr. Marshall leaves today.

The function was also used to welcome the company's new circulation manager, Neville Wallace, who Oliver Clarke described as "a man of great talent". Mr. Wallace joined the newspaper on March 1.

Three contractors received awards for serving the newspaper for 50 years - Charles Moore, Kenneth DaCosta and Evelyn Solomon. Renford Morrison received an award for 45 years of service. Three persons received 15-year awards, six received 20-year awards and 19 received 30-year awards.
