Ian Levy gets French honour
published: Thursday | April 21, 2005

LEVY

BUSINESSMAN AND Supreme Ventures Director, Ian Levy has been awarded the National Order of Merit (Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite) by the Government of France. He will receive the order in July this year at a ceremony of investiture to be held at the French embassy.

Mr. Levy has been doing business with the French Government for 25 years and his relationship with them has led to collaboration with Bouygues, the French company involved in the construction of Highway 2000.

PROMOTING TIES

The National Order of Merit was established in 1963 by General de Gaulle to reward French citizens for their outstanding achievements in a public office, but foreigners are eligible in recognition of their dedication in promoting ties between their country and France. But, so far, very few foreign nationals have received the honour.

Commenting on the award, Mr. Levy told The Gleaner, "This is a an honour for my family, my country and me and an achievement that makes me feel humbled. I am grateful to the president and people of France and I will continue to work for the betterment of my country."
